How Does a Tankless Water Heater Work?
Traditional tanks heat stored water all day, whether you are home or not, in order to maintain the required temperature. Sediment build-up in older tanks also cause the tank to work harder at maintaining this temperature. A tankless or on-demand water heater helps with both of these issues.
A tankless water heater uses a modulating gas valve to heat water on demand. This means, you always get clean fresh water and only use energy when you need it. An accurate temperature guage also allows you to set the water at a specified degree.
An important note with tankless units, in order to heat water as quickly as possible, you must turn the tap on full hot when starting it up and back to the appropriate temperature as needed.
